Who gets coeliac disease?

Coeliac disease can affect people of any age, gender or ethnicity and occurs in approximately 1% of the global population. However, it is estimated that currently only 5% of Coeliac patients have been diagnosed.1

The following factors place you at a greater risk for developing the condition:

  • A first degree relative (brother, sister, parent) with coeliac disease

  • Type 1 diabetes

  • Down Syndrome

  • Turners Syndrome

  • Other autoimmune diseases
