Coeliac Disease

Coeliac disease is an intolerance to gluten – proteins found in wheat, barley and rye. Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease whereby exposure to gluten triggers an inappropriate immune response which causes inflammation and damages the lining (or villi) of the small intestine. This damage can lead to malabsorption of important nutrients.
